Wondergrass bamboo craft products exhibiting wonders of bamboo!

To have a glimpse of wonders with bamboo pay a visit to “Wondergrass” bamboo products exhibition at Women’s Association Hall at Diwan’s Road.

The unique show is exhibiting beautiful handicrafts made out of bamboo, which comprise lanterns of varied hues and sizes, eye-catchy pen stands, bamboo jewellery with an ethnic touch, gift items like book shaped vessels and paintings.

There is the jewellery section, where chains, earrings, bracelets and bangles that are painted using natural colours are present. The starting price is Rs 30.

For the womenfolk of the city, another attraction is the bag section which has a collection of wallets, sling bags and ladies bags.

Clocks, wall hangings, kitchen utensils and flowers made using bamboo are other items on sale. The maximum price rate is `4,000.

The exhibition is organised jointly by Uravu, an NGO working for the promotion of bamboo products in Wayanad and the Development Commissioner (handicrafts) of the Union Ministry of Textiles.

The traditional culture and the acumen of the craftsmen of Wayanad are well seen in the items displayed.

Uravu also provides a means of living for the tribal community of the district. The eco-friendly crafts are not only a means of survival for the people there, but also a good example for the urban population to live in terms with nature.

The organisers say the aim of the show is to reach the products to maximum number of people.

The show is on till March 2nd.
